Curettes are used primarily for the treatment of benign or low-grade malignant tumors and for debulking tumors prior to Mohs micrographic surgery. They come in many handle styles with either round or oval heads of varying sizes from 1 mm to 9 mm (Fig. 4.8). The choice of curette is largely personal preference, but smaller heads should be used for finer procedures.
